FinTechs belonging to this category offer alternative payment services which are supposed to provide a faster and cheaper way for national, European, and international payments for private and business customers by using new technologies.
For example, payment service providers hereby offer solutions to easily integrate several payment services in online shops.
Some FinTechs furthermore provide real cash register systems and online-reservation solutions for restaurants and shops providing their own payment services or making use of the payment services of FinTechs described above.

Attitude of the country towards modern payment services
Modern payment services are widely used in Slovenia and continue to grow. According to the National Payments Council (NPC) the development of the payments market in Slovenia is being largely influenced by technological advancements, which facilitate the creation of innovative electronic payment methods. There is a planned focus on ensuring that electronic payment methods are accepted universally at points of sale, reflecting a broader trend towards digitalization.

In Slovenia, payment services may be provided by (i) banks; (ii) electronic money institutions; (iii) electronic money institutions with a waiver; (iv) payment institutions; (v) payment institutions with a waiver; (vi) account information service providers; (vii) the Bank of Slovenia, (viii) the Public Payments Administration of the Republic of Slovenia and other government and local authority bodies in Slovenia.
Banks, electronic money institutions, payment institutions and waived payment institutions established in Slovenia are required to obtain an authorisation to provide payment services from the Bank of Slovenia in accordance with the Banking Act and the Payment Services, Services of Issuing Electronic Money, and Payment Systems Act. Payment services may also be provided in the territory of the Republic of Slovenia by payment service providers established in another EU Member State on the basis of a notification sent to the Bank of Slovenia by the competent authority of the entity's home Member State.
