Zang, Bergel & Viñes (ZBV) announces Ignacio Sanz has joined as a partner, to head the firm’s Public Law & Government Matters and Internal Investigations & Compliance areas

Zang, Bergel & Viñes (ZBV) announced that Ignacio Sanz has joined as a partner, in order to head the firm’s Public Law & Government Matters and Internal Investigations & Compliance areas.

Mr. Sanz brings to the firm extensive experience as a Public Law practitioner and seasoned advisor of corporate clients on highly regulated sectors such as transportation (railways, urban transportation, ports and airports), energy (electricity and oil & gas), TMT, banking and financial institutions and real estate. He has also represented international and local companies and individuals before courts, arbitration panels and administrative authorities on a wide range of challenging constitutional and regulatory matters. Building upon his deep knowledge of public-private interactions amassed over the years, he has built a robust practice on Anti-corruption and Compliance issues, conducting or taking part in many complex internal investigations and developing and evaluating compliance programs for clients.

Carolina Zang, ZBV’s Managing Partner explained: “We are all very excited to welcome Ignacio to the firm. He is a perfect fit for ZBV: he expands the types of services we provide our clients while at the same time allows us to give an even wider range and depth to already existing practices such as energy, antitrust, litigation and corporate governance, among others. We also particularly value Ignacio’s commitment to talent and business development and internal management issues evidenced by his well-established market reputation as a team builder and team player”.

Mr. Sanz said: “I have long admired ZBV’s reputation as a provider of practical, effective, top-notch legal services to the firm’s highly sophisticated and demanding clients in a way that is at the same time assertive and unassuming. This is made possible only by the very evident and genuine collaborative interaction between a highly diverse team of partners and associates; this ZBV’s house-style really stands out in the marketplace and makes it a work environment I feel particularly attracted to”.

Ms. Zang went on: “Moreover, this move shows once again ZBV’s commitment to stay ahead of the market, moving quickly and decisively to provide our clients with the best possible legal services, even in (or specially in) times of general uncertainty such as these, prompted by the COVID-19 global crisis and challenging local conditions. Ignacio’s contributions –both in the Public Law and Compliance areas- will be more relevant than ever in today’s business environment, marked by an increase of governmental regulation and intervention across most business activities”.

Mr. Sanz’s background includes more than 22 years of private practice. He has been named as one of Argentina’s leading lawyer in Public Law, Compliance and TMT by specialized publications. He comes to ZBV after more than a year and a half as solo practitioner since his departure as Head of Administrative and Regulatory Law department of another Argentine major firm. Mr. Sanz earned his J.D. equivalent degree and his Specialization on Administrative Law from the Pontificia Universidad Católica “Santa María de los Buenos Aires”. He is also a certified Compliance Officer (CEMA University – Ethics and Compliance Association of Argentina).
