Polsinelli Earns No. 11 Spot Among the Top 50 IP Law Firms Nationwide

Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli has been ranked No. 11 among law firms nationwide in Patexia Inc.’s 2018 IPR Intelligence Report, which evaluates more than 1,100 law firms and 5,000 attorneys in the intellectual property space on activity and performance.

As one of the Top 50 Best Performing Law Firms in IPR, according to Patexia Inc., Polsinelli is also listed No. 4 among the Top 50 Law Firms representing petitioners, climbing 66 spots from its 2017 position. Patexia’s second-annual IPR Intelligence Report has taken into consideration results from approximately 7,700 cases, 4,700 patents and 80,000 claims, in addition to feedback from more than 3,000 companies and 200 judges.

Patexia analyzed and reviewed activity and performance of attorneys in its report to name the Top 50 Best Performing Attorneys in IPR; Senior Partner Henry Petri and Shareholder James Murphy earned top individual honors. Petri, an experienced IP litigator out of Washington, D.C., ranked No. 23 among the Top 50 Best Performing Attorneys in IPR and No. 22 on the list of Top 50 Best Performing Attorneys representing Petitioners. Murphy, an IP attorney focusing his practice before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) in Polsinelli’s Houston office, is listed 29th on the list of Top 50 Best Performing Attorneys in IPR and No. 34 among the Top 50 Best Performing Attorneys representing Petitioners.

Polsinelli has one of the largest IP practices in the nation with a more than 165 attorneys, patent agents, scientists and other professionals. The firm was ranked in U.S. News & World Report's 2018 "Best Law Firms" for Patent Law, Trademark Law and IP Litigation.

Based on the number of patent applications filed, allowance rate, average number of office actions before allowance and the average time to allowance, the firm was also ranked among the top 35 patent firms nationwide on Juristat’s Top 100 Patent Firms in 2017.

Polsinelli’s Intellectual Property Department includes professionals who have previously served in high-profile positions within the industry, such as Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property, Director of the USPTO, Executive Director of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), and as a Mentor in the Global Intellectual Property Academy.
