Penningtons Manches Cooper's 'Class Act Team' applauded by The Legal 500 2020

The wide-ranging expertise of the combined firm of Penningtons Manches Cooper has been recognised in the 2020 UK edition of The Legal 500 directory, one of the leading guides to law firms both in this country and internationally. The firm has achieved top-tier rankings in 17 practice areas and has been recommended in a further 51 legal fields across its offices in London, the South East and East Anglia.

Top-tier practice areas include banking and finance, clinical negligence, commercial, commercial property, corporate, education, employment, environment, family, immigration, IT and telecoms and pensions. There is also high praise for the firm’s services in areas stretching from personal injury, personal tax, trusts and probate and professional negligence to commodities disputes, shipping, trade finance and travel.

A total of 33 lawyers across practice area and sector teams in six of Penningtons Manches Cooper’s UK offices have made it onto the elite list of ‘leading lawyers’, The Legal 500’s guide to outstanding lawyers nationwide. This represents a rise of over 20% on last year’s figure. A further 14 lawyers are listed as ‘next generation partners’ and 13 as ‘rising stars’ while an impressive 116 have been ranked as ‘recommended lawyers’ by the directory.

This strong performance comes just three months after the merger between Penningtons Manches and shipping, international trade, arbitration and finance specialist Thomas Cooper and at a time when the business has achieved its tenth consecutive year of growth with a turnover of £79.5 million.

Client feedback featured in The Legal 500, which was collated during the research process for the 2020 UK edition, includes comments such as ‘the class act team is incredibly knowledgeable, professional and easy to work with’ and ‘the legal advice is sophisticated and spot-on’ (employment); ‘they have simply done it before many times and have the expertise’ (corporate); ‘are extremely thorough and professional in everything they do’ (real estate); and have ‘a strong reputation as one of the most pre-eminent practices in the South East’ (pensions).
