Mourant lawyers named as Female Leaders by IFLR1000

Five lawyers, from leading legal and governance services firm Mourant, have been recognised for their talents by IFLR1000 which has named them among "the most prominent female lawyers" in their respective areas of expertise.

Partners, Catherine Pham (Cayman Islands), Frances Watson (Guernsey), Helen Wyatt (Guernsey) and Felicia de Laat (Jersey) and Consultant Rachael McDonald (BVI) are all included on the 2021 list of Women Leaders by Jurisdiction.

This year's Guide is described as: "by far the most comprehensive yet, featuring more than 750 lawyers globally" and promotes the most prominent female lawyers working in the areas of law researched within their jurisdictions. This is an elite group of lawyers with outstanding reputations within their markets who have expertise and experience of working on complex deals, and who have risen to hold leadership roles with their firms or their practices."

Mourant Global Managing Partner, Jonathan Rigby, said: "We are delighted that five of our senior female lawyers have been recognised amongst the most prominent in their field.  This news follows hot on the heels of our recent success in the Citywealth Powerwomen Awards.  Catherine, Frances, Helen, Felicia and Rachael are fantastic role models and champions in diversity and inclusion and I would like to congratulate them on their achievement."

Catherine is a Partner in the Cayman Islands Corporate and Finance practice, specialising in investment funds including the structuring, formation, regulation and governance of investment fund structures, their downstream transactions and exit mechanisms.

Frances is a Partner in the Guernsey Corporate team, with more than 20 years' experience covering a wide variety of corporate and commercial matters, finance, investment funds, insurance, listings, regulatory advice and restructurings.

Helen is Head of the Guernsey Corporate Practice with broad commercial and corporate law experience and particular expertise in financial services regulatory matters.

Felicia specialises in collective investment funds, with a particular focus on private equity and property funds. She has been interviewed by IFLR on the challenges of tackling ingrained gender imbalances and structural and unconscious biases as part of the 2021 IFLR1000 Women Leaders initiative.

Rachael is a Consultant in our BVI practice with extensive experience in corporate and banking, finance transactions, regulatory and governance issues and economic substance.

IFLR1000's research team analyses thousands of research submissions, conducts thousands of interviews with law firm partners, and surveys tens of thousands of clients to determine IFLR1000's Women Leaders.
