Macpherson Kelley merger provides Multilaw with pacific legal network

Macpherson Kelley is pleased to announce that the law firm, PLN, has merged into our Sydney office.

PLN, a boutique corporate firm headed by John Ridgway, provides a unique offering. As well as the Australian law firm, PLN, John created and manages a network of independent and locally staffed law firms across the South Pacific. This is called the Pacific Law Network. It is the leading provider of legal services in the Pacific. The network includes Timor Leste, Palau, Northern Mariana Islands, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Kiribati, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Cook Islands and French Polynesia.

John and his team have joined Macpherson Kelley's Sydney office, and we now run and are part of the PLN network. We will maintain the PLN name and John's team will continue to be the coordinating office for work using the Pacific Legal Network. The merger brings two key benefits to Macpherson Kelley and to Multilaw firms:

  1. John and his team give our Sydney office a real boost in experience and high level corporate expertise. The team is highly experienced in banking and finance, multi-jurisdictional M+A, telecommunications and infrastructure projects; and

  2. The PLN network provides access to and management of legal matters that reach or span the Pacific region. Like Multilaw firms, these are all firms with local knowledge of legal processes and deep understanding of local cultures, which all contribute to practical and on-the-ground insights.

With the ongoing expansion of our Sydney Office (see previous updates), especially in the commercial practice, over the past 18 months, your clients will be well served by all our Australian offices. For further information, please contact Paul Kirton
