Italy - Data processing by employers in the context of the health emergency

May an employer take the temperature of employees, suppliers, customers before admitting them to their premises? May that employer disclose the identity of an infected employee to fellow workers? These are some of the issues the FAQs recently developed by the Italian data protection authority (“Garante per la protezione dei dati personali”) tried to address in different sectors ranging from health care to the workplace, from schools to the activities of researchers and municipalities. The FAQs are meant to provide clarification to ensure the lawful processing of personal data by private bodies. Please find below some of the main FAQs.
