Costa Rica - Opening of Costa Rican International Airports including US residents


In accordance with the guidelines established by the Costa Rican Government and the statement issued by the Ministry of Tourism, there will be a gradual opening of the international airports based on the following protocols:

The tourists of the countries and regions authorized to enter Costa Rica are:

  10. Monaco
  11. Belgium
  12. Denmark
  13. Spain
  14. Netherlands

17. Thailand
18. United Kingdom
19. Northern Ireland
20. Czech Republic
21. Cyprus
22. Austria
23. Bulgaria
24. Korea
25. Croatia
26. Slovenia
27. Estonia
28. Finland
29. Hungary
30. Iceland
21. Latvia
32. Lithuania
33. Malta
34. Poland
35. San Marino
36. Singapore
37. Slovakia
38. Germany
39. France
40. Greece
41. Italy
42. Uruguay
43. China
44. Portugal
45. Romania

All tourists who wish to enter Costa Rica through the international airports must meet the following requirements:

Each tourist must be tested for COVID-19, at least 48 hours before entering Costa Rica. The results of the test must be negative and must be presented to the Costa Rican authorities.

Each tourist must purchase a travel insurance that covers lodging in case of quarantine and medical expenses. The insurance may be international as long as it covers the mentioned items.

Each tourist must complete the digital epidemiological form  before entering the country.

The opening of international airports does not authorise or imply the opening of the Costa Rican borders.

ENTRY OF TOURISTS FROM THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

As of September 1, 2020, the Government has authorised the entry of American tourists as long as they come from the following areas:
1. New York
2. New Jersey
3. New Hampshire
4. Vermont
5 Conencticut
6. Maine

All United States tourists who enter Costa Rica through the international airports must meet the following requirements:

Each tourist must be tested for COVID-19, at least 48 hours before entering Costa Rica. The results of the test must be negaive and must be presented to the Costa Rican authorities.

Each tourist must purchase a travel insurance that covers lodging in case of quarantine and medical expenses. The insurance may be international as long as it covers the mentioned items.

Each tourist must complete the digital epidemiological form  before entering the country.

Present a valid driver's license stating that your place of residence is one of the authorised areas. If they do not have said driver's license, they will not be able to enter the country.

As of September 1, 2020, the entry of private flights from said authorized States will be allowed under the same previous requirements.

YACHT ENTRY

As of September 1, 2020, the entry of private yachts is also authorized through the Costa Rican marinas (Golfito, Los Sueños, Pez Vela, Banana Bay and Papagayo).

The crew of the yachts must meetthe same requirements as other tourists and must come from one of the countries or authorized areas.

In the event that passengers do not have a negative COVID test, they will receive a quarantine sanitary order, in which the days they have been at sea will be deducted counting from the last set sail recorded in the yacht´s log.
