About Me
Katja Hoos is a Partner and Certified Specialist Lawyer in Medical Law with additional qualifications in Pharmaceutical Law and Food Law. She serves as the Head of the Healthcare & Life Sciences practice group.

Her legal advice focuses specifically on the challenges of the “New Health” era. Increasing emphasis is placed on disease prevention and health optimization. On the one hand, companies are developing ever more optimized foods, frequently with an added emphasis on sustainability (regenerative; plant-based food, etc.). On the other hand, it is anticipated that digital health (eHealth) applications and wearables such as smartwatches and fitness monitors will support personal health management. The distinction between pharmaceuticals and lifestyle products continues to be blurring. Katja Hoos advises healthcare industry participants on the diverse opportunities and legal challenges that result from these new and expanding requirements for individual health.

She is also an expert in healthcare and health technology innovations, such as biotechnology, genetic engineering, robotics, and the meaningful use of data through AI, for instance.

Her consulting expertise also encompasses the German Pharmaceutical Market Reorganization Act, i.e., the procedure for price regulation of innovative medications with new active ingredients in Germany, pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and supply chains, and medical device law. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she advised on the CE certification of respiratory masks, the market launches of novel rapid antigen tests, and the transposition of the recently enacted Medical Device Regulation
