About Me
Thomas Sambuc advises and represents clients primarily in the area of intellectual property (IP). He focuses on trademark and corporate law, as well as copyright, design and competition law. He has also published widely in these areas of law. In addition to his work as an attorney, he holds an honorary professorship at the University of Tübingen.
In 1980, he joined the traditional law firm Lichtenstein & Körner in Stuttgart as a lawyer. In 1996, his focus on intellectual property and competition law led to his work "Der UWG-Nachahmungsschutz" (C.H.Beck), which has been widely cited by the Federal Court of Justice. In 2005, Thomas Sambuc was appointed honorary professor by the University of Tübingen. In this capacity, he supervised 10 dissertations in addition to teaching as a doctoral advisor. He is (after many years of leadership) honorary chairman of the Southwest District Group of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and Copyright (GRUR) and co-editor of the UWG commentary "Harte/Henning" (C.H.Beck, 5th ed. 2021).
"Who's Who Legal 2021" calls him "an authority on trademark law thanks to his decades of experience in the field." Handelsblatt lists him as one of Germany's best lawyers in intellectual property law in 2021 and 2022 and named him "Lawyer of the Year" in this field of law in 2019.
