About Me
I am a partner in Mourant's Cayman Islands office. I have extensive experience in insolvency and restructuring, financial services litigation, fraud and asset tracing and regulatory matters.
After studying law at Oxford University, I practised as a barrister in London before moving offshore in 2008. I am admitted with full higher court rights in both the Cayman Islands and BVI and regularly appear in Court against other senior advocates, including London QCs. I have spent the last decade working on some of the most complex and most high-profile insolvencies and related-disputes in the Caribbean, virtually all of which have a significant cross-border element.
My recent experience includes advising the liquidators of the Madoff-affected Kingate Funds, which suffered losses of over US$1bn and have been involved in extensive cross-border litigation in the US and Bermuda with the BLMIS Trustee, their former investment adviser and other organizations. In addition, I have worked on cases including: acting for the Plaintiffs in the Algosaibi v Saad fraud claim seeking to trace assets worth over US$4 billion through a complex group of companies in liquidation and financial products (this involved both the longest trial and appeal ever to take place in the Cayman Islands); and acting for the liquidators of the Primeo Fund in another very complex, multi-faceted cross-border liquidation.
I am closely involved in the training and mentorship of younger lawyers, including presenting many internal and external training sessions, with a particular focus on insolvency law. I have served on Mourant's scholarship committee both in the BVI and Cayman Islands and have assisted in the community by judging local school debates and presenting to high-school students interested in legal and accounting careers. I regularly assist the firm's charitable efforts and volunteer my time in support of local community initiatives.
