About Me
I have practiced business law in Vancouver since 1985, advising senior executive teams and corporate boards on matters including mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, partnership and shareholder agreements, franchising, finance, and owner succession. I serve clients in diverse sectors including manufacturing, services and professions.
I have a significant practice as Fairness Advisor in public sector procurement, advising owners on fairness issues related to Public-Private Partnerships and conventionally-procured projects.
Recent projects include the Surrey Pretrial Services Centre, BC Women’s and Children’s Hospital, the Evergreen Line, Emily Carr University of Art and Design, and others.
I earned the designation ‘Chartered Arbitrator’ in 1999, and practice as an arbitrator in employment and other commercial matters.
I have served the Law Society's bar admission program and the University of British Columbia as an instructor in professional responsibility and ethics issues, and in corporate law.
I am experienced in corporate governance issues and the role of directors, and have chaired the Continuing Legal Education Society's course in directors' and officers' liability.
I am a Life Bencher of the Law Society of British Columbia, having served four consecutive terms as a Bencher. I am a past member of the Canadian and British Columbia Human Rights Tribunals, past Chair of the Board of Governors of Capilano University, and past Governor of the Justice Institute of BC. I now serve as a Trustee of the Granville Island Trust. I was a founding member and director for its first ten years of West Coast LEAF, part of a national women's organization promoting equality through test-case litigation under Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
