2009 Americas & Asia Pacific Joint Regional Conference - Honolulu, Hawaii, USA

The Americas & Asia Pacific Joint Regional Conference & Executive Council took place in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA on 12 - 15 March 2009.  27 delegates and 11 Companions were hosted by Carlsmith Ball LLP, a leading firm throughout Hawaii with 140 years of successful practice.  The venue was the Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel, set in lush botanical gardens on the outskirts of Waikiki Beach.

The substantive program dealt with emerging issues in tourism and development and in climate change, seeking to identify how these will impact on business and legal practice in a globalizing environment.  Complementing these sessions was an interactive session lead by Blane Prescott from Hildebrandt International which sought to explore develop specific initiatives that could be used by Multilaw firms for individual and joint business development initiatives.

A highlight for many delegates was the visit to Pearl Harbour, the U.S.S. Arizona memorial and the U.S.S. Missouri.  Many thanks are due to Jerry Sumida and his wife Heidi who made the conference such a rewarding and enjoyable experience.

The experience and strength of independent legal practices throughout the world.
