Inaugural Meeting of Indonesian Business & Professionals in Manila


SyCipLaw’s Leslie C. Dy and Hiyasmin H. Lapitan were featured speakers at the inaugural meeting of Indonesian business & professionals in Manila organized by the Indonesia Diaspora Network Chapter Manila (IDN-Manila). The meeting was hosted by the Indonesian Embassy on April 16 and was attended by about 120 Indonesians in Manila engaged in various industries. The Indonesian Ambassador to Manila, His Excellency Johny J. Lumintang, and members of his staff were also present.

Ms. Dy and Lapitan’s session was led by Said Zaidansyah, chair of IDN-Manila, and focused on how Indonesians can start and do business in the Philippines. Other sessions were on business opportunities in the Philippines with Sherwin Santos of I-Commerce Holding and on challenges for Indonesian businesses and professionals with Hendy Widjaja, head of asset management and commercial services at the Asian Development Bank, and Adhy Nugraha, president and CEO of AG Datacom. Winada Effendi, chief financial officer of Diamond Hotel Manila, was in charge of the committee that organized the event.

IDN-Manila is part of IDN-Global, which aims to expand the connections, multiply opportunities, and promote shared prosperity of Indonesia and its diaspora. IDN has 74 chapters in 44 countries, as well as various task forces.
