Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan (SyCipLaw) is pleased to announce the
appointment of Marievic
G. Ramos-Añonuevo as the new head of the firm’s Banking, Finance &
Securities Department. Ms. Añonuevo assumed the post after the retirement
of Mia G.
Gentugaya who continues to serve the firm as Of Counsel.
With over
32 years of law practice, Ms. Añonuevo has acquired substantial experience
advising major local and foreign clients in the fields of banking, project
finance, privatization, infrastructure, foreign investments, mergers and
acquisitions, corporate rehabilitation and restructuring, securities, and land
acquisition and development.
Her
projects include internationally-recognized and award-winning transactions such
as the financing of the Manila North Tollway Project involving the
rehabilitation and expansion of the North Luzon Expressway, the equity
financing for the acquisition by National Grid Corporation of the Philippines
of the concession to operate and rehabilitate the national transmission grid
and sub-transmission assets of the National Transmission Corporation, the financing of the
rehabilitation and development of the Mactan Cebu International Airport,
and the landmark
climate bond for the Tiwi-MakBan geothermal power facilities.
Ms.
Añonuevo has advised several banks that have extended financing to companies
engaged in the development of condominium buildings, power plants,
manufacturing plants, hotels and casinos and in mining activities. She has also
participated in various capacities in mergers and acquisitions involving major
banking institutions, public utilities in the telecommunications, gas, water
and transportation sectors, as well as manufacturing and business process
outsourcing companies and call centers. She currently sits as corporate
secretary or assistant corporate secretary in more than 50 companies that are
doing business in various sectors of industry in the Philippines, including
pharmaceutical, banking and finance, advertising, manufacturing, real estate
and property development, venture capital and retail and wholesale trading.
She is a
member of the Philippine Bar Association, Women in Law Organization, Women
Lawyers Circle, Multilaw, and Inter-Pacific Bar Association. She has
contributed to The Philippines Investment Manual, International
Banking & Financial Law Bulletin, Capital Asia, International
Financial Law Review, and The Public-Private
Partnership Law Review.
