Criteria and Considerations

Location

  • Rotation of the Annual Global Meeting among the three regions is an important factor in selecting a conference host city, but Multilaw does not adhere to any strict regional rotation. To check when your city or a nearby city last hosted a conference, please view the list of host cities for previous conferences. Click here
  • Provide information regarding proposed conference location including:

Venue

  • Accommodation must be convenient to the conference location and reasonably priced options available.
  • A suitable venue is required within the host city which offers an accessible location with the appropriate facilities to hold the working sessions including a main meeting room with sufficient capacity for our group size (attendance levels are typically 100-150) and breakout rooms.   In your application, please provide a list of at least three (3) hotels in your city that could accommodate our group and whether you have a preference amongst them and why.
  • Please advise if your firm’s offices in the host city are sufficiently large to host smaller meetings (typically 25-30) during and before the conference, as well as a welcome delegate cocktail reception on the first evening.   Also, please specify whether the office is within walking distance of proposed accommodations or whether transportation will be required.
  • Please provide some options you recommend for venues for the closing dinner on Saturday evening.  Please advise whether it is within walking distance of your recommended accommodations or whether transportation will be required.

Content

  • The focus for conferences is now geared around business development. The host firm should outline their proposed ideas for the content of the programme in particular the business opportunities/client interactions they can offer to delegates.

  • Please also indicate any connections with keynote speakers.

Commitment

  • The host firm should be able to demonstrate active participation in Multilaw.  Please list (including Board positions held by members of the firm).
  • The host firm should outline the staff resources they will be committing to assist with planning the conference.
  • The host firm are encouraged to sponsor the Welcome Drinks Reception (typically in the range of $US2,000-$4,000)
  • Please list anticipated attendance at conference events by host firm lawyers  (approximate number)

Other Factors

  • Please also include any additional factors you think would be helpful to the Conference & Events Committee in considering your application.  For example, is the host year significant in the proposed host city’s history or the host firm’s history?
